An Amazing Opening Night of JAZZ CHRISTMAS @ THE STANDARD
Needless to say, it was a magical sold-out night at our spectacular jazz club pop-up at The Standard and it was great to be back once again. It was a Christmas celebration in the most romantic, nostalgic, and glamorous way! It was the opening night and the first of four sold-out Saturdays at The Standard. If you missed out on tickets or just want to relive the experience, you can browse through pictures from the night by the talented Daniel Nissen Lauritsen further below.
An international cast of amazing musicians and vocalists from the NLD IJC delivered a compelling and engaging show highlighting the Christmas holiday season, based on famous songs by mainly Nat King Cole and Ray Charles, such as “Let There Be Love”, “Let The Good Times Roll”, “Winter Wonderland” “Route 66”, “For Sentimental Reasons”, “The Christmas Song” (“Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire”), “Unforgettable”, “Come Rain Or Come Shine”, “Nature Boy” and others.
Five years ago, the now legendary The Standard Jazz Club closed its doors i Havnegade, changed its name to the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective and became a touring entity operating high-end jazz presentations at many different prominent venues across Denmark, including the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of Denmark, Sølyst, Hotel d’Angleterre, Tivoli Glassalen, Musikhuset Aarhus, Kronborg Castle and more. But still to this day, guests at The Standard’s three restaurants often ask about the jazz club.
The line-up included:
Thaddeus Sledge (vocals/US)
Gabor Bolla (tenor saxophone/HU)
Ken Linh Doky (piano & keyboard/FR)
Emil Madsen (bass/DK)
Anders Mogensen (drums/DK)
We cannot wait to do it again every Saturday until the 18th of December.

ABOUT THE STANDARD
The Standard has one of Copenhagen's most beautiful locations near the Inderhavn bridge and Nyhavn. The guests can enjoy beautiful views all year round from all the restaurants in the house, and during the summer, the terrace offers refreshing snacks and cool drinks just a few steps from the water. The Standard houses four unique concepts: the top restaurant STUD!O, the modern, Danish bistro Almanak, the colorful, vegetable forward restaurant, Mission and an exclusive Private Dining Room.
Originally the building, which today constitutes The Standard, was used as a custom house and was called Gammel Toldkammer. It was built in 1937 by the Danish architect and royal building inspector Kristoffer Varming. Due to its elongated shape, it is also called the "penal house".
After a major renovation, the first restaurants in the building opened in 2005. In 2013, Claus Meyer and a group of investors took over the entire building. They then opened Almanac, STUD!O, the Indian restaurant Verandah and the now defunct The Standard Jazz Club. At the end of 2017, the current owner group took over Claus's house operation, and after a respectful refurbishment in 2018, The Standard Private Dining was completed in the old Jazz club.
