About:
The ultra-talented American vocalist and keyboardist DESMOND SCAIFE JR. has appeared in Denmark regularly since 2018 as a featured artist with the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective where he has delivered some of the collective’s most engaging and memorable performances, always to standing ovations. Originally from Alabama, DESMOND SCAIFE JR. is based in New York City where he enjoys a reputation as one of the most exciting and most versatile new young artists on the music scene, equally at ease in Jazz, Soul, R&B as well as Pop. Following his recently completed engagement at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, as a headline artist on the NLD IJC production “Ella & Louis'' (a modern live reinterpretation of the iconic Fitzgerald/Armstrong album) and while enjoying the lift of travel restrictions, DESMOND SCAIFE JR. has spontaneously decided to stay in Denmark for while, and has taken up residence at Hotel d'Angleterre’s champagne bar “Balthazar” where he can be heard every Wednesday night until further notice. So join us on Wednesday nights for this unique opportunity to hear such a major talent in an informal and intimate setting, performing his personal renditions of classics by Ray Charles and Nat King Cole, in addition to jazz/fusion versions of pop tunes and original songs of his own.

Hotel d’Angleterre’s Champagne Bar, Balthazar:
Balthazar is the name of a 12-litres Champagne bottle. We therefore found it obvious to name the first Champagne bar in the heart of Copenhagen, and Denmark, exactly that. Balthazar Champagne Bar is first and foremost about Champagne - about celebrating life - but also unique signature cocktails like our Downton Abbey, classics like an Espresso Martini, and sophisticated snacks. All complemented by the beautiful décor and flirtatious tunes from our DJ's, all creating a rather vibrant and international environment.
