About:
Tonight, this group of ultra-prominent musicians reunites on stage for the first time in over 15 years to revisit songs from their memorable and life-changing collaboration during the making of the film “Between a Smile and a Tear” in 2004. Swedish songstress Lisa Nilsson is arguably one of Scandinavia’s most iconic and influential voices of the past three decades and across all genres of music. She has won numerous awards and was recently inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame. American drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath is one of the most legendary jazz artists alive in the world today and has played with John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker and Lester Young. He is a 2021 recipient of the NEA Jazz Masters Award - the highest honor in jazz from the US government. Niels Lan Doky has been called “the best pianist of his generation” and was knighted by HM the Queen of Denmark. He has performed for the world elite, from Pop Jean-Paul II to Sir Roger Moore - and with a who’s-who in jazz, from Pat Metheny to David Sanborn, Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette, Toots Thielemans, John McLaughlin, Ray Brown, Al Jarreau and beyond. Tonight’s group is rounded off by the Danish award-winning bassist Mads Vinding whose credentials include luminaries such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster and Quincy Jones. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this special reunion. Note: This concert is exclusive to Sound Dues and no other appearances by this group are scheduled anywhere else in the world.
