“JAZZ/TAKEs” of 1970s New York Punk, 1980s U.K. New Wave and 1990s Seattle Grunge - feat. Alvin Queen, Lenny white, and Billy Cobham with the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective.

For the last three months of this turbulent year turned world history milestone, the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective (NLD IJC) will take up residence at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art to produce three unique, exclusive and highly innovative concert projects.

Three of the greatest African-American drummers in modern jazz will each lead their own concert alongside selected members of the NLD IJC to take us on a musical journey through jazz interpretations of repertoire and genres not previously translated through the lens of jazz.

ALVIN QUEEN / 1970s New York Punk
On October 30th (2020), Alvin Queen will host a program of Jazz/Takes on 1970s New York Punk with renditions of songs by Talking Heads, Television, Blondie, Patti Smith and The Ramones. This concert will also feature the spectacular French bass virtuoso, François Moutin, among others.
