About:
The original cast of this hugely successful project, which accumulated over 5,000 tickets sold at the now defunct The Standard Jazz Club in Copenhagen, reunites for the first time since 2016 for this very special engagement at Terra Nova - the magnificent seaside house in Helsingør where Stan Getz and his family once lived over six decades ago.

For SOUND DUES’ international press launch last September, the current owners of the house generously opened their doors to host a memorable Stan Getz tribute concert featuring Bill Evans, Darryl Jones, Niels Lan Doky and Manu Katché - and with Monica Getz as a guest of honor. Monica repeatedly confirmed to the press that the house still has the same feel as when she lived there with her late husband and their five children. She was just overjoyed to return there after all these years.

Once again, we have been blessed with the opportunity to offer you yet another unforgettable and ultra-intimate musical experience at this unique and magical location. And what could be more natural for this occasion than to reunite this quintet to revisit what is not only Stan Getz’ greatest success but also the top-selling jazz album of all time, with reportedly over 42 million copies sold since its initial release in March 1964 by Verve Records. Coincidentally, Monica Getz was a driving force on this album. During the mid-1960s, she worked relentlessly behind the scenes on getting the project off the ground, and obviously succeeded. She is currently writing the liner-notes to a forthcoming vinyl reissue.

In the tradition of the “Jazz Masterworks Series” - a concept coined by the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective - the group will live perform and re-interpret all the songs from the “Getz/Gilberto” album, in the exact same order and using the same instrumentation as on the original album.

“Getz/Gilberto” is considered the record that popularized bossa nova worldwide. It features American saxophonist Stan Getz alongside Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, performing songs mostly composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim (Tom Jobim). The album also features the vocals of Astrud Gilberto on two tracks, "Garota de Ipanema" ("The Girl from Ipanema") and "Corcovado". “Getz/Gilberto” was included in Rolling Stone's and Vibe's lists of best albums of all time and was widely acclaimed by music critics, who praised Gilberto's vocals and the album's bossa nova groove and minimalism. “Getz/Gilberto” received Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group and Best Engineered Recording - Non-Classical; it also became the first non-American album to win a Grammy for Album of the Year, in 1965.

Concert duration is 75 min without intermission. Ticket price includes champagne before the concert.
